Human Rights Activist Warns Against Ethnic Mobilization in Kenyan Politics

In a stark warning to the nation, human rights activist Kipkorir Ngetich has condemned the ongoing political tensions between Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and President William Ruto. Ngetich likened Gachagua’s actions to a “declaration of war” against the Kenyan people, urging citizens to remain vigilant against rising ethnic mobilization.

Ngetich criticized Gachagua for allegedly rallying his tribesmen in what he termed a dangerous campaign that could mirror the atrocities witnessed during the Rwandan genocide. “The mobilization of ethnic groups for political gain poses a serious threat to national security and unity,” he stated.

He emphasized that Gachagua’s role as Deputy President should focus on supporting Ruto’s agenda for national cohesion rather than inciting division. “A leader who resorts to tribal warfare undermines democracy and the rule of law, jeopardizing the peace we have worked hard to achieve.”

The activist expressed concern over the influence of political figures like Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa, who he believes are exacerbating the situation by supporting Gachagua’s opposition to Ruto. “These leaders must be held accountable for their role in inciting unrest. Their actions could lead Kenya down a path of chaos similar to that seen in Sudan or Somalia,” he warned.

Ngetich called on Kenyans to reject tribal politics and instead embrace dialogue and inclusivity. “The people have spoken through their votes, electing President Ruto to lead. It is imperative that we respect this democratic choice,” he urged.

He concluded by appealing to the youth of Mt. Kenya not to be manipulated by political leaders for their selfish agendas. “Let us unite for a peaceful and prosperous Kenya, free from the chains of tribalism and hatred.”

As tensions escalate, Ngetich’s remarks resonate as a reminder of the importance of national unity in safeguarding Kenya’s democratic future.
