In a heartwarming celebration of Mashujaa Day, over a thousand senior citizens were honored yesterday, thanks to the generous contributions of Together As One Microfinance and Comfort Homes. The event, led by Dr. Hezekiah Kariuki Mwangi, the managing director and CEO of both organizations, aimed to recognize the sacrifices and contributions of the elderly to society.

Dr. Kariuki emphasized the significance of acknowledging the elderly as true heroes and heroines. “On this Mashujaa holiday, I had the privilege of spending time with the elderly at my rural home. Their lives and sacrifices are a reminder of the true meaning of heroism. We must always cherish and support them as they remain the foundation of our community,” he stated.

In addition to honoring senior citizens, Dr. Kariuki expressed his commitment to supporting the Kibingoti Technical and Vocational Polytechnic. He called on local leaders to prioritize the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector, highlighting its role in economic growth. “Countries like China have thrived due to cottage industries,” he noted.

Dr. Kariuki has been an advocate for youth training in TVET courses at the polytechnic, demonstrating his dedication through various contributions. He urged young people to embrace vocational training, encouraging leaders to play an active role in enhancing and facilitating educational institutions.

The Mashujaa Day celebration not only honored the elderly but also reinforced the importance of investing in future generations through education and skills development.
