Two suspects, including a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer, have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of 26-year-old Mercy Kwamboka, a student at the University of Nairobi. Her body was discovered three weeks ago in Mwiki, Kasarani, following an extensive investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The primary suspect, Joseph Kamau, a KDF officer stationed at Embakasi Barracks, was apprehended on Wednesday in the Komarok estate of Nairobi. Authorities believe he was in a relationship with Kwamboka and was among the last individuals to see her before her disappearance.

The second suspect, Fred Mathenge, was captured after falling into a trap set by detectives in Tononoka, Nairobi. Investigators suggest that he and Kamau may have conspired in the alleged murder.

Details surrounding the circumstances of Kwamboka’s death remain murky as detectives continue to gather evidence. The two suspects are expected to be arraigned in court next Thursday as the investigation unfolds.
