Eldoret Welcomes Jospong Group for Solid Waste Management Partnership
Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim recently hosted representatives from the Jospong Group of Companies to explore a potential partnership aimed at enhancing solid waste management in the region. The visit marks a significant step towards integrating advanced waste management practices in Eldoret.
During the meeting, Governor Bii expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are glad to have you in Eldoret City to study what we do on solid waste management and partner with us to integrate the best practices applied across the continent.” He emphasized the need to leverage modern technology to transform solid waste into economically viable solutions.
The Jospong Group’s Team Leader delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting successful waste management strategies employed across Africa. The discussion centered on sustainable practices and innovative methods to improve waste handling, disposal, and recycling within urban settings.
City Manager Tito Koiyet provided a detailed report on Eldoret’s current waste management status. His analysis included critical data on waste characterization and annual waste quantities, outlining both the challenges and opportunities faced by the city.
This collaboration holds the potential to significantly improve waste management practices in Eldoret, aligning with Governor Bii’s Nguzo Kumi manifesto, which emphasizes creating a cleaner, more sustainable city.
