Governor Bii Announces Launch of Tarmacking Project on Bandaptai Road to Enhance Accessibility and Address Storm Water Issues
After years of community advocacy and persistent calls for infrastructure improvements, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has announced the commencement of work on the tarmacking of Bandaptai Road, which runs through the Cathedral area. The long-awaited project is set to improve accessibility to the area while addressing the longstanding challenges caused by stormwater, which has frequently disrupted daily life and local businesses.
“For years, we have persistently advocated for the tarmacking of Bandaptai Road,” said Governor Bii in his statement. “Today, I am happy to announce that work has finally commenced, with a focus on improving access to this area and addressing the ongoing stormwater issues that have posed numerous challenges for the community.”
The tarmacking project aims to provide a smoother, more reliable route for residents, business owners, and commuters who use Bandaptai Road regularly. The enhanced road will not only benefit Cathedral area residents but also foster smoother transportation of goods and services within Uasin Gishu County.
Governor Bii emphasized that solving the stormwater issues is a top priority for the county, as it has been a recurring problem, particularly during the rainy seasons. The project includes the installation of an improved drainage system designed to channel excess water away from the roadway and surrounding properties, reducing the risk of flooding and damage.
“We are committed to sustainable infrastructure development that prioritizes the needs of our residents and ensures that our roads and public facilities are built to last,” he added. “This project aligns with our broader vision for Uasin Gishu, where strategic investments in infrastructure support economic growth and improve quality of life.”
Community members have responded positively to the news, expressing gratitude for the county government’s attention to a matter that has impacted them for years. The project is expected to be completed in phases, with additional updates provided by the county government to keep the community informed of progress.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring all areas within Uasin Gishu benefit from such developments and stated that similar projects are in the pipeline to address infrastructure needs across the county.
