Mary Maingi Wishes Students Success in National Exams
The Honorable Member of Parliament for Mwea, Mary Maingi, has extended her heartfelt wishes to students embarking on their national exams as the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) commenced on October 28, 2024. This year, an impressive 1,313,913 candidates are participating in the assessment, which is aimed at monitoring student progress as they transition to Junior School.
In her message, Maingi expressed confidence in the students’ preparedness, acknowledging their hard work and dedication. “I wish to extend my warmest wishes to all students starting their examinations today. I know each one of them has put in hard work and dedication to their studies, and I’m confident in their readiness to excel,” she stated.
The KPSEA, now in its second year, follows a new testing format designed under the Competency-Based Curriculum framework. This innovative approach prioritizes a more student-friendly assessment method, easing the traditional pressures associated with exam performance. Unlike previous systems, the KPSEA’s purpose is not for placement but to monitor learner progress and provide valuable feedback to stakeholders.
Importantly, students will automatically advance from primary to junior school, regardless of their scores in the KPSEA. This policy is part of the government’s effort to foster a supportive learning environment, emphasizing growth and development over competition.
As students begin this significant assessment, Maingi’s encouragement resonates, highlighting the importance of hard work and resilience in their educational journeys.
