Rebecca Miano Embarks on Coastal Tour to Boost Tourism in Kilifi
Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has kicked off a three-day coastal tour aimed at familiarizing herself with the region’s tourism landscape and unlocking its untapped potential. The tour began with a courtesy visit to Kilifi Governor Gideon Mungaro, where they discussed strategies for collaboration between county and national governments.
Miano emphasized the importance of resetting tourism sector priorities and enhancing engagement modalities to boost tourist arrivals. “Kilifi has been and remains a bedrock in Kenya’s tourism sector,” she stated, expressing her commitment to supporting the county in restoring its unique appeal.
During the meeting, Miano praised ongoing and future initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable tourism in Kilifi. She highlighted the innovative packaging of tourism products and the diversification of offerings, noting the recent launch of regional circuits that encompass the entirety of Kenya.
The Cabinet Secretary underscored the need for refurbishing local hotels to meet international standards, pledging her Ministry’s support in making Kilifi a leading tourism destination.
