Body of a Man Found in Nyamindi River, Kirinyaga County
On Friday morning, the lifeless body of a man was discovered in the Nyamindi River in Mwea East, Kirinyaga County, sparking concerns among locals.
The body was found by villagers who were planting crops near the river. One of the first to respond, Mr. Gitari, a local resident, confirmed the discovery after being alerted by others in the area. “I was called by the villagers who informed me that they had seen a human body, I went and confirmed and it was that of a man. I immediately notified the authorities,” he said.
Authorities were quick to arrive at the scene, and the body was retrieved for further investigation. The victim, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was found with multiple sets of clothing, including a reflective jacket, leading some residents to speculate that he may have been a border-border rider.
“This is not the first time a body has been found in Nyamindi River. We don’t understand why people are being killed and dumped here,” said Wanjiru, a local resident, voicing the community’s growing concerns over the recurring incidents. The area has previously seen other bodies discovered in similar circumstances, further heightening fears of criminal activity.
