Governor Natembeya Reaffirms Commitment to Improving Health Services in Trans Nzoia
Residents of Trans Nzoia County have been urged to seek medical attention at any health facility across the county following the resolution of a two-week nurses’ strike. The strike came to an end on Monday after nurses reached an agreement with the county leadership.
Governor George Natembeya has reiterated his administration’s dedication to improving healthcare services in the region, acknowledging the vital role that health plays in boosting economic productivity. Speaking during the burial of businessman Evanas Wanangali in Sinyerere Ward on Wednesday, Communications Director Dr. Felix Sialo delivered a message on behalf of the governor, emphasizing the importance of the welfare of healthcare workers.
“We must all work together as leaders and health workers to improve and effectively deliver quality health services to those in need. That is why both the health provider and the patient’s welfare must be addressed,” Dr. Sialo stated.
Dr. Sialo also highlighted Governor Natembeya’s ongoing commitment to community empowerment, urging residents to apply for business funding through the County’s Nawiri Fund. This year, the county has allocated Sh. 100 million to the fund, an increase from Sh. 80 million in the previous financial year. The Nawiri Fund is part of the county’s efforts to uplift the living standards of its residents.
Dr. Sialo called on residents to actively support county government initiatives, underscoring the importance of collaboration between the public and government to foster development.
The late Evanas Wanangali, a respected businessman in the area, passed away after a short illness. His funeral service was attended by various community leaders, including Emmanuel Wamalwa, the governor’s personal assistant, who also urged residents to continue backing Governor Natembeya’s leadership.
With healthcare now back on track, the county administration is hopeful that both service delivery and the overall well-being of Trans Nzoia residents will improve, paving the way for a healthier and more productive community.
