The Deputy Speaker of Murang’a County Assembly, who also serves as the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Kihumbu-ini Ward, Moses Gachui, has called on political leaders to be mindful of their language and actions, urging them to avoid heightening the already charged political atmosphere in the country.

In a statement made on Saturday during the burial of the late Nominated MCA for Murang’a, Mr. Gachui expressed concern over the rising political tensions and urged leaders to focus on unity and healing.

“We must be careful with our words and actions. Our nation is in a delicate state, and we must not allow divisive politics to take root. Now is the time for healing and building bridges, not escalating conflicts,” Gachui said.

The Deputy Speaker emphasized the need for leaders in the region, particularly in the central part of Kenya, to refrain from engaging in inflammatory rhetoric that could fuel divisions. His call for caution comes at a time when political tensions have been running high in the country, and the need for peace and reconciliation has never been more urgent.

Gachui also highlighted the importance of redirecting political energy towards service delivery and improving the lives of citizens. “Instead of focusing on political power struggles, we should channel our efforts into addressing the real concerns of the people—better healthcare, infrastructure, and job creation. Our people deserve more than just promises; they deserve action,” he added.

His remarks were a call for self-reflection among political leaders, urging them to prioritize the welfare of the people of Murang’a and the larger nation, as opposed to engaging in partisan battles that may hinder development.

The Deputy Speaker’s statement has resonated with many in the region, with several community leaders and residents calling for peace and cooperation across political lines for the greater good of the county and the nation at large.

As the country continues to navigate through a period of heightened political activity, the words of Moses Gachui serve as a reminder of the crucial need for leaders to foster dialogue and unity, ensuring that politics works for the benefit of all citizens.
