Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary, Rebecca Miano EGH, has congratulated the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) for winning the prestigious *Most Improved Revenue Collection Award* at the 2024 e-Citizen Awards, an achievement that was celebrated during a ceremony attended by President William Ruto.

In her remarks, Miano praised KWS for its exceptional strides in digitizing its services, noting that the organization’s efforts have not only enhanced visitor experiences but also contributed significantly to the country’s economic growth. KWS’s digitization initiatives have facilitated easier online access to information and payments, making it more convenient for visitors to plan their trips to Kenya’s wildlife-rich parks and reserves.

The positive results of these digital advancements were reflected in KWS’s impressive financial performance for the 2023/24 financial year. Revenue collection surged by nearly 50%, reaching Ksh7.6 billion, while visitor numbers increased to an all-time high of 3.1 million. This growth underscores the growing interest in Kenya’s diverse wildlife and the effectiveness of KWS’s efforts to streamline operations and enhance service delivery.

“As the custodian of 20% of Kenya’s landmass, home to our world-famous wildlife, KWS continues to excel in conservation and sustainable wildlife management,” Miano said. “This recognition is a testament to KWS’s unwavering commitment to preserving Kenya’s natural heritage, while also creating unforgettable experiences for visitors.”

KWS’s ongoing efforts in both conservation and innovation have positioned it as a key player in the country’s tourism and wildlife sectors, ensuring that Kenya’s natural resources are managed sustainably while also driving revenue growth for the country.

With the support of the e-Citizen platform and the visionary leadership of President Ruto, KWS is poised to continue its journey of modernization and excellence in wildlife management, further boosting Kenya’s global reputation as a leading tourism destination.

Miano commended KWS for this milestone achievement, saying, “Bravo, KWS! Your commitment to excellence sets a shining example for others to follow.”
