Absa Bank Kenya has successfully concluded a series of empowerment forums aimed at supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Mt. Kenya and North Eastern regions. The initiative, which engaged 1000 entrepreneurs, provided a platform for networking, learning, and accessing critical financial solutions to foster sustained business growth and resilience.

The business club meetings were held in key towns including Isiolo, Meru, Garissa, Thika, Nyeri, and Murang’a. During these forums, SMEs had the opportunity to engage with industry leaders and gain valuable insights into sustainable finance, market access, and business development. A significant focus was placed on mentorship sessions, which highlighted regional economic activities such as agriculture and trade.

Absa Bank Kenya’s Head of SME, Erastus Muthura, emphasized the bank’s commitment to empowering SMEs as key drivers of economic growth. “At Absa Bank Kenya, we believe in the power of SMEs to contribute to the growth of the economy. Our tailored solutions are designed to provide access to both financial and non-financial resources, enabling these businesses to grow and become more resilient,” Muthura stated during the forum in Murang’a.

The forums are part of Absa Bank Kenya’s broader efforts to support local entrepreneurs through its “Wezesha Caravan” tour, which facilitates networking and interaction between SMEs and business leaders across the country.

Dr. Naomi Kagone, Chairperson of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Murang’a Chapter, commended the bank for its role in promoting financial inclusion and empowering local businesses. “In today’s challenging economic climate, the need for resilient businesses has never been more critical. We are pleased to partner with Absa Bank Kenya in providing essential support to our local entrepreneurs, ensuring their growth and continued contribution to our communities,” Dr. Kagone said.

This initiative follows previous successful business forums hosted by Absa Bank Kenya in the Rift Valley, Western, and Coast regions, where the bank has continued to equip SMEs with the skills and knowledge required to thrive in a volatile business environment.

Through these efforts, Absa Bank Kenya reaffirms its dedication to supporting the growth of SMEs, which are key to the country’s economic development and job creation.
