This week, Kesses Member of Parliament Julius Ruto had the honor of representing Kenya at the annual East African Community (EAC) Legislature Sports Games, which took place in the vibrant coastal city of Mombasa. The event, bringing together legislators from across East Africa, provided an excellent platform for strengthening regional integration and deepening ties among member states.

In his participation, Ruto showcased his sporting talents in two highly competitive disciplines: **Tug of War** and **Volleyball**. These sports, while physically demanding, served as more than just a test of strength and skill. They embodied the very spirit of **teamwork, unity, and collaboration** that is central to the EAC’s mission.

“I am immensely proud to have been part of this year’s event,” said Ruto. “It was an incredible opportunity to not only engage in healthy competition but also to connect with fellow legislators from across the region. Sports are a powerful tool for fostering unity, and this event perfectly demonstrated how shared physical activities can build bridges of friendship and mutual understanding.”

The EAC Legislature Sports Games have become an annual tradition, creating an avenue for legislators to interact outside the formal setting of politics and diplomacy. These interactions go a long way in **promoting peace, understanding, and cooperation** among East African nations, further reinforcing the vision of a prosperous and integrated region.

Ruto, a passionate advocate for regional integration, emphasized how such events help to break down barriers and foster a sense of collective purpose. “We may come from different countries, with diverse cultures and backgrounds, but through these games, we realize that we are united by a common goal: the development and prosperity of East Africa.”

The games also provided a space for lawmakers to discuss regional issues, share best practices, and explore new avenues for collaboration. Ruto took part in lively discussions with his colleagues, underscoring the importance of sports as a catalyst for bringing people together, fostering understanding, and nurturing partnerships that transcend borders.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Ruto extended his gratitude to all participants, organizers, and colleagues who contributed to making the games both memorable and impactful. “The friendships formed, the lessons learned, and the shared experiences from this event are invaluable. Let’s continue to champion **regional integration**, not just on the field but in every aspect of our work as legislators.”

As the event concluded, Ruto reiterated his commitment to promoting regional cooperation and working towards a stronger, more unified East Africa. “We are all ambassadors of this region, and I believe through collaboration and teamwork, we will achieve the **unity, development, and prosperity** that we envision for East Africa.”

The games may have ended, but the spirit of regional integration and friendship that was fostered in Mombasa will undoubtedly continue to thrive, driving progress and unity across the East African Community.
