State Department for TVET and KEPSA Strengthen Partnership to Bridge Skills Gap

The continued collaboration between the State Department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) has been hailed as a vital step in equipping Kenyans with industry-aligned skills to meet the demands of a dynamic job market.

This was underscored during a courtesy visit by a KEPSA delegation led by Mutheu Kasanga, Director in charge of Education, ICT, Sports, Arts, and Culture, alongside Priscilla Kerebi, the Vice Chair of the TVET Subsector Education Sector Board, to the State Department for TVET. The meeting provided an opportunity to review milestones achieved through the partnership and to discuss future plans for enhancing industry training programs.

Among the key highlights of the discussions were the ongoing efforts to bridge skills gaps through robust industry partnerships and the decentralization of training programs from urban centers to counties. This move aims to make technical education and training more accessible to Kenyans in underserved regions, ensuring equitable opportunities for all.

Another focus was on strategies to engage local communities in shaping sustainable and inclusive technical training initiatives. By fostering grassroots involvement, the partnership seeks to ensure that training programs are relevant, impactful, and aligned with the socio-economic needs of the country.

“This partnership with the private sector is pivotal in creating a skilled workforce to drive Kenya’s socio-economic transformation,” a representative of the State Department for TVET remarked.
