Musalia Mudavadi Officially Hands Over Ministry of Interior to Hon. Murkomen

Acting Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, Musalia Mudavadi, this afternoon officially handed over the reins of the ministry to Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen. The transition ceremony marks the conclusion of Mudavadi’s tenure in an acting capacity, which began several months ago.

During the handover, Mudavadi reflected on the valuable experience he gained while leading the Ministry, acknowledging the immense responsibilities tied to managing the key sectors of internal security, national administration, and citizen services. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve and his deep appreciation for the dedicated team within the Ministry.

“I have gained firsthand insight into the crucial work of this Ministry. It has been an honor to serve in this capacity, and I am proud of the progress made over the past few months,” said Mudavadi. “As I hand over to Hon. Murkomen, I am confident that he will continue to drive the Ministry’s agenda and bring further success.”

In addition to passing the leadership baton to Murkomen, Mudavadi extended his best wishes to the team of Principal Secretaries who play a critical role in the Ministry’s operations. These include Dr. Raymond Omollo (State Department for Internal Security & National Administration), Prof. Julius Bitok (State Department for Citizen Services), and Salome Beacco (State Department for Correctional Services).

Mudavadi also emphasized the importance of a smooth transition and assured the incoming leadership of his continued support. “Hon. Murkomen brings with him a wealth of experience and leadership, and I am confident that the Ministry will continue to thrive under his stewardship,” he added.

As he departs from the acting role, Mudavadi expressed his ongoing commitment to the Ministry’s goals and reiterated the importance of strengthening security and public services across the country. The handover ceremony was attended by senior government officials and ministry staff, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.

Hon. Murkomen, who was appointed Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior, thanked Mudavadi for his leadership and smooth transition process, promising to build on the work done so far to ensure the safety and well-being of all Kenyans.
