Dr. Ekrah Ndung’u Spreading Christmas Cheer to the Less Fortunate
By John Kariuki
The Christmas season is often seen as a time to share joy, love, and generosity with those who may not be as fortunate. Dr. Ekrah Ndung’u, the National Chairperson of the Kenya National Association of Private Colleges (KENAPCO), demonstrated this spirit of giving on Monday when she visited Streetnizers Youth Resource Centre, a children’s home for boys in Kawaida, Banana area.
For Dr. Ndung’u, this act of kindness is not just an annual tradition but a heartfelt commitment. “I’ve been a mother to these boys since 2021. We enjoy making chapatis together as they update me on their school performance,” she said with a warm smile. The home, which provides care and shelter for boys in need, depends heavily on the generosity of well-wishers like Dr. Ndung’u.
During her visit, she emphasized the importance of gratitude and giving back. “When your children have the opportunity and privilege of holding your leso as you cook, remember there are children like these who only experience nurturing when people like us visit and care for them,” she noted.
The boys at Streetnizers beamed with happiness as they cooked and shared stories with Dr. Ndung’u, embodying the true essence of the festive season. “The joy of the Lord is our strength,” she added, encouraging others to visit the home and bring smiles to these young souls.
Dr. Ndung’u’s call to action was clear: “Teach your kids gratitude. Let’s learn to share ourselves with others. You can always pop in at Streetnizers and be a part of this life-changing journey.”
Her visit serves as a reminder that the Christmas spirit is not just about receiving but about giving and making a difference in the lives of those around us.
