A walk in Honour of Kiptum
The athletics fraternity in Elgeyo Marakwet today held a walk of honour in celebration of the life and achievements of the late World Marathon Champion Kelvin Kiptum who died last Sunday in a road accident.
Waving roses, hundreds of athletes, coaches and staff from Elgeyo Marakwet County Government led by Sports CEC Purity Koima walked from the County’s border with Uasin Gishu to Iten town.
The walk culminated at the Office of Governor Wisley Rotich where they held prayers and gave glowing tributes to the late Kiptum.
They were later addressed by Deputy Governor Prof Grace Cheserek who hailed the walk as a befitting show of honour to Kiptum, who had brought glory to the County and Kenya at large.
