*Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven; Matt. 5:16,*

One of the ways we are expected to let our light shine is in our dressing and appearance. In the world of today, *many of what we call dressing is nakedness*. Many folks are so inappropriately and scantily dressed that their *dressing is tantamount to nakedness*. For example, the designs of today leave the *lady’s cleavage revealed*, you can see *the Avocados*. Her skirts are so tight or skimpy that if she sits, if at all she can, she *needs to cross her legs or use another material to cover her laps*. Sadly today, any *dressing that is not revealing is considered old-fashioned*.

As for the men, it’s an *era of ‘pencil’ trousers*. To appear fashionable today, *many men wear trousers that are very tight*. Aside that, some *men now braid their hair or carry certain hair styles that make them look strange*. For some, *tattoo is the new name of the game*, while the *use of earrings is the vogue for others*. Since many of these oddities began with people who are *regarded as celebrities*, young ones who see them as *role models follow suit*. But all these things run contrary to God’s commandments in His words (For example, see I Pt. 3:3,4; Deut. 22:5 and Lev. 19:28).

The first form of clothing was provided by God for our first parents in Eden who tried in vain to *use fig leaves to cover their nudity*. The essence of God’s intervention was to *cover their nakedness properly*. Dear friend, if what you wear reveals any sensitive part of your body, *you need to address your dressings*. Besides, as an ambassador of God’s kingdom, you *shouldn’t be dressing in a way that tarnishes the image of the kingdom you represent*. Don’t forget that the *kingdom gives no room for anything defiling or unclean*. Besides, since *your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit*, you shouldn’t defile it by inappropriate dressing. So, let moderation guide your dressing; and always dress to please God, not yourself or others.

God bless you.
