Affordable Housing Program and Markets are Key Pillars of Development -Dr Nyale
Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Dr Eddyson Nyale, has this morning chaired a committee meeting on County Affordable Housing Programme and Markets that is charged with overseeing the roll-out of the programme’s under the Bottom-up Economic transformation Agenda.
In his remarks, Mr. Nyale said that the committee was responsible for the sensitization of the public and documentation of the processes from identification of the projects to implementation of the same, hence the need for total commitment to see the successful execution of works.
“We are charged with the responsibility of Monitoring and Evaluation of the Affordable Housing program and the market establishment in Uasin Gishu County,” said Dr. Nyale.
State Director for Housing Mr. Edwin Chepsiror, noted that the Affordable Housing program had been largely considered in Uasin Gishu County and the approved projects include;- The Railway City with 5,000 units, Pioneer estate with 500, AMS estate with 205 units and Kidiwa estate getting approved 220 units.
Chief Officer for Trade Mr. Geoffrey Tanui, noted that the County was beneficial of major modern markets I.e 64 markets and the Champions market set to be established soon.
Ms. Beatrice Menjo, the County Director Housing, reiterated the need to ensure that locals are given employment opportunities during the role out of Affordable housing program especially the youth.
Director Physical Planning Planner Daniel Koech, said that the Department of Lands and Physical planning would ensure that development plans are availed to the committee while also fast tracking the statutory approval of all developments are obtained on time.
