MSEA Machakos regional office, along with Mr. Alfonce Matogo, Director of the Labour Office in the Department of Occupational Health and Safety Machakos, recently paid a courtesy visit to the project site at Machakos Level Five Hospital.
The purpose of the visit was to meet with Vee Vee contractor, Mr. Job Muhaya, to explore potential opportunities for local MSEs and Jua Kali artisans to supply construction materials for the project.
The meeting was productive, and it was agreed that further discussions would take place in the coming weeks, involving representatives from several local associations.
There was positive feedback regarding the MSE subcontract for the affordable housing project, specifically for the provision of doors, windows, and frames.
This will not only enhance the skills and capacities of local manufacturers but also help in retaining economic benefits within the region, thereby strengthening the local economy and encouraging further investment in local production capabilities.
