All is Set for the Swearing of Uasin Gishu Governor Elect Jonathan Bii
Uasin Gishu county’s assumption of the office of the governor committee has invited the public to the swearing-in ceremony of governor-elect Jonathan Bii alias Koti Moja and his deputy John Barorot .
The events will be held on the 25th of August at the Eldoret Sports Club from 8:00 am.
Speaking to the press, the chair of the assumption of office of the governor, Edwin Bett said everything is set for the function.
“We are prepared for the swearing-in ceremony, we have already made arrangements for 10,000 people where the invited guest include senior government officials, diplomats, chief executive officers parastatals, high commissioners, members of the diplomatic committee, members of parliament, and members of county assemblies among others,” said Bett while speaking to the press.
Uasin Gishu governor elect Jonathan Bii succeeded Jackson Mandago after he garnered 214,036 votes on a UDA ticket against 127,013 votes of his close competitor Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki who vied as an Independent candidate.
The swearing-in ceremony will be presided over by a High Court Judge and upon signing the certificate of the inauguration, the outgoing county governor shall hand over the county symbols to the governor-elect as a sign of transfer of executive power and authority.
The county symbols are the county flag, County court of arms, the constitution, and the county public seal.
“The governor elect shall, upon receiving the instruments of power be considered to have assumed the office of the county governor. The deputy governor elect shall take and subscribe to the oath of office and the county governor, shall upon the swearing in of the deputy governor-elect , give an inauguration speech to the county,” he added.
