Areas Listed By CS Kindiki For Residents to Vacate in The Next 24 Hours

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has listed specific areas in the North Rift Counties that are hideouts for bandits and armed criminals.

He urged residents to vacate areas before the lapse of the 24-hour ultimatum.

Areas include:Korkoron Hills, Tandare Valley & Silale gorges in Baringo; Mukogodo Forest; Kamwenje, Warero & Ndonyoriwo; Lekuruki Hills, Losos & Kiape Caves & Sieku Valley in Laikipia County, Ltungai Conservancy, Longewan, Nasuur, Lochokia and Lekadaar Escarpments; Lolmolok Caves, Pura Valley, Malaso Escarpment and Suguta Valley in Samburu County.

Further, those currently in Kapelbok, Nakwamoru, Lebokat, Ombolion, Nadome & Kamur caves in Turkana; Turkwel Escarpment at the interface of W. Pokot & Turkana counties.

“They are therefore declared scenes of crime. All law-abiding civilians are ordered to vacate the following areas IMMEDIATELY and not later than Monday, March 13, 2023 by 8.30am,” said Kindiki.

He said this will decisively, effectively and ruthlessly deal with bandits and armed criminals who have terrorised the peace loving residents of Turkana, Samburu, Laikipia, West Pokot and Baringo Counties.

“Any person found therein from Monday 13th March 2023, 0830 hours, will be treated as a suspect of armed banditry or as a suspect of aiding and abetting banditry or an accessory after the fact. Everyone must get out,” he added.

He noted that apart from aircrafts taking part in the ongoing security operation, low altitude overflight by any other aircraft over any of the afore specified areas is banned with effect from Monday 13th March 2023 0830 HOURS until further notice.
