In a concerted effort to address the needs of individuals with disabilities in Teso North and Teso South constituencies, a significant assessment and registration event was held today at the AIC Church Malaba.

Organized by a collaborative effort from the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE), The Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK), and medical officers from Busia County Referral Hospital, the event aimed to evaluate the requirements of those with disabilities and provide essential services.

The event encompassed a range of services, including the evaluation of the need for assistive devices, as well as the provision of physiotherapy and occupational therapy services. These critical services are essential for enhancing the quality of life and independence of individuals living with disabilities.

Busia Women Rep Catherine Omanyo expressed her sincere gratitude to all partners involved in the event, highlighting the collaborative effort and dedication displayed in serving the community.

Omanyo emphasized the importance of such initiatives in ensuring that individuals with disabilities receive the support and assistance they require to thrive.

The event not only provided vital services but also served as a platform for raising awareness about the challenges faced by people with disabilities and the importance of inclusion and accessibility in society.

By bringing together various stakeholders, including government agencies, educational institutions, and healthcare providers, the event underscored the collective commitment to promoting the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in the Teso region.

As the assessment and registration event concluded, it left a positive impact on the community, demonstrating the power of collaboration and compassion in addressing the needs of the most vulnerable members of society. With continued support and engagement, initiatives like these have the potential to create a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
