Attempted Murder in Nakuru: Woman Stabbed, Hands Severed by Boyfriend
A chilling case of attempted murder was reported yesterday at Kiamunyi Police Post in Nakuru, where a woman, Florence Wanjiku Gichohi, was found with multiple stab wounds and her hands severed. The attack is believed to have been carried out by her boyfriend, Elias Njeru Mutugi, who is also her business partner at Indigenous Land Properties Limited.
The incident occurred on the evening of 22nd November 2024 at the couple’s rental house in Olive, Nakuru, following what authorities describe as “domestic wrangles.” According to preliminary investigations, Florence Wanjiku was assaulted by Mutugi in what is suspected to be an act of domestic violence turned violent.
Florence was rushed to a local hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries. Police have classified the case as “Attempted Murder” and are actively searching for the suspect, Elias Njeru Mutugi, who is believed to have fled the scene.
The Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Menengai is leading the investigation, with authorities working tirelessly to locate the suspect. The police are urging Mutugi to surrender himself to the nearest police station.
“We are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in locating the suspect. Anyone who has seen him or has relevant information is encouraged to report it to the nearest police station or any law enforcement officer,” a police spokesperson said.
The attack has shocked the local community, raising concerns about the prevalence of domestic violence and the need for stronger measures to protect victims. Authorities have assured the public that efforts to bring Mutugi to justice are ongoing.
As the investigation continues, Florence Wanjiku’s condition remains critical, and authorities are hopeful she will recover from her injuries.
