Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo today presided over the award ceremony of health facilities performance held at Sosa cottages in Gisambai, Hamisi Sub County.
The award ceremony organized by Afya Ugavi in collaboration with Ampath Plus seeks to recognize the best performing health facilities in the County.
In his speech, the Governor was grateful to Afya Ugavi and Ampath Plus for building capacity through training to Healthcare workers in the County.
The County boss also thanked the partners for the assistance they have provided to the County in the supply of pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceuticals adding that soon his administration will establish a fully computerised Medical Material Management Information System to improve on monitoring of dispensing medical materials at the facilities.
Health Services CECM Prof Inonda Mwanje said Vihiga County has seen a decline in HIV-AIDS prevalence as well as Malaria infection due to the robust capacity building to healthcare workers in the County.
The Chief Officer of Health Dr Mary Anyiendah said her department is committed to ensuring that health facilities are well equipped to ensure seamless service delivery to the people.
The award ceremony saw several Health facilities in the County get recognition for a job well done. Some of the parameters for the awards include record-keeping, cleanliness, consistency in service delivery, customer relations just to mention a few.
Vihiga Referral Hospital emerged the best as Kisiru scooped the award for the most improved dispensary. Under the category of the best Sub County in commodity management, the Vihiga sub-county emerged as the victor.
