Blue Economy, Water and Irrigation Committee Meets to Plan Business For This Financial Year's Last Quarter

Members of the Blue Economy, Water and Irrigation Committee, led by the Chairperson Hon. Kangogo Bowen (Marakwet East), have met today to plan the Committee schedule of business within the last quarter of this Financial Year.

Some of the key areas of focus will include stakeholder meetings to shed more light on a statement that was sought by Mwea MP Hon. Mary Maingi, regarding flooding in Mwea Irrigation Scheme and the surrounding areas.

Hon. Maingi sought to know the measures the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation has put in place to assist the families affected, and the emergency response measures adopted to address flood related challenges in her Constituency.

The Legislator also sought to know the regulatory frameworks the Government has put in place to undertake desiltation regularly and maintain water canals.

The Committee shall also be considering the Supplementary Budget II for the Financial Year 2023/24, and the Budget Estimates for the Financial Year 2024/25, for the MDAs under it’s purview.
