Boost For Counties As World Bank Injects 50 Billion In Agriculture

World Bank in collaboration with the Kenyan government has rolled out KSh 50 billion towards improving agricultural production in Counties.

The partnership seeks to implement five key World Bank priority projects; National Agricultural and Rural Inclusive Growth Project (NARIGP),Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Project (KCSAP), National Agriculture Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP), Emergency Locust Response Program,Kenya (ELRP) and Food Systems Resilience Program, Kenya (FSRP).

In his keynote address,as the Chair , Council of Governors Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives Committee, during the Annual World Bank -County consultative meeting in Mombasa County, Governor Lusaka recognized the huge contribution by the World Bank in transformation of the Country’s agricultural sector.

“We acknowledge your relentless efforts to foster sustainable and transformative agricultural development for the betterment of our cherished Nation”,He Said.

The COG Agriculture Chair assured of the Council’s commitment to advance the value chain production in Counties,noting that they will safeguard all funded projects to enhance sustainability.

“I wish to assure this gathering the unwavering commitment by the Council of Governors to continue supporting all the County Governments to ensure effective implementation of the new operations while ensuring prudent use of the resources for the benefit of all our farmers “,He reiterated.

Lusaka urged the Counties leadership to shun divisive politics that will hamper the progress of funded projects.
“Without proper structures and leadership,all these projects will go to waste.Let us be keen to ensure continuity “, Said Lusaka .

The meeting was attended by County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) and Chief Officers (Agricultural and Finance ) among others
