Bunge FC Faces NMG FC in Pre-Game Warm-Up Ahead of EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games
Bunge FC, made up of Members of Parliament from both the National Assembly and Senate, played a thrilling warm-up match today against the Nation Media Group (NMG) FC. The match, held at Nairobi’s Ulinzi Sports Complex, served as a crucial preparation for the upcoming East African Community (EAC) Inter-Parliamentary Games, which Kenya will host later this month.
NMG FC triumphed with a 3-2 victory, but Bunge FC showed resilience, with the goals from their side scored by team Co-captain and Senate Majority Leader, Hon. Aaron Cheruiyot of Kericho.
Fellow Co-Captain, Hon. Otiende Amollo, MP for Rarieda, emphasized Bunge FC’s readiness, citing year-round training and new signings from among Kenyan MPs bolstering the squad. “We are excited to host this tournament and urge Kenyans to rally behind us. We’re ready, and we’re aiming for nothing less than the trophy,” said Hon. Amollo.
Senator Cheruiyot reflected on the significance of the upcoming games in fostering regional integration. “These matches go beyond sports—they offer us a chance to engage with senior policy makers from across the region, accelerating EAC unity both on and off the field,” he said.
Bunge FC, which placed third in the previous tournament, now sets its sights on the top spot, hoping to capitalize on the home-field advantage when the games take place in Mombasa from December 6 to 18, 2024.
