Bungoma: Governor Lusaka Launches Multi-Million Buss Terminus
Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has launched the construction of a state of art Kanduyi bus terminus along Eldoret – Malaba highway.
The project which will cost a whooping Sh198 million to its full completion will help in decongesting Bungoma’s main town.
With a capacity to accommodate 5,000 traders, the terminus will serve up to 100,000 people in Kanduyi.
The 200 stalls, a restaurant, sanitation facilities, refrigeration area for perishable goods and a perimeter wall are a welcome relief to traders who have been plying their trade on dusty and unhygienic grounds besides the busy Eldoret-Malaba highway .
Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony, Lusaka affirmed his commitment in leaving the legacy once he exits governorship.
The Governor called on the contractor to give first priority to locals for the job opportunities.
“Provide job opportunities to our local people, this the only opportunity for them to thrive, many people are jobless and by employing them here we will have have helped them a lot,” he said.
Lusaka announced that his administration has earmarked the tarmacking of feeder roads surrounding Kanduyi stadium to ease movement for traders even as his Administration plans to put up a trailer park at Sikata market to decongest Kanduyi market which has seen the overflow of trucks parked on the roadside.
