BUSIA GOVERNOR LAUDS COLLABO BETWEEN TEACHERS AND THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Busia Governor, Sospeter Ojaamong has appreciated the relationship, roles and collaborations between Busia Teachers and the Department of Education especially through the office of the County Director of Education.

In a message delivered on his behalf by Director Vocational Training, Mr Leonard Opollo during opening day of the 9th Kenya Primary Schools Heads Association Regional Conference at Farmview Hotel, the Governor said his government has developed policies in the education sector, among them the Busia County Early Childhood Education Act 2021 that is assisting the County in management of early childhood centres in running ECDEs and childcare centres as well as Busia County Vocational Training Centers Act 2021 that is a policy meant for the management of Vocational Training Centers.

” At the point of out puts for the children who are not able to proceed to secondary schools , we have 26 Vocational Training Centres in Busia County to accommodate such pupils to help them train in various skills,” H.E Ojaamong said.

He encouraged the youth to take up vocational skills stating that it’s the easiest pathway to equip them with skills and keep them busy in the society.

Busia County is hosting over 2,000 delegates in the Regional Annual Conference that has boosted the county’s economy which is rated the best in the region hospitality industry.
The three-day program themed “Access to learning during post covid 19 pandemic and other Crisis, and the role of Primary School Headteachers in Implementing CBC”, has attracted a number of activities within the county especially in the business sector benefiting the residents of Busia.

The delegates were trained specifically on the importance of teaching in line with curriculum design and syllabus among other pertinent issues.

The meeting was graced by the Regional Director of Education, Mr. Stephen Barongo, the Teachers Service Commission(TSC) Regional Director, Mrs. Lilian Mwangi, the KEPSHA Regional Chairman, Mr. Andrew Tobias Omisale, the KEPSHA National Executive Board (NEB) chairman, Mr. Thomas Ndeda, and TSC County Directors for Busia and Bungoma Mr. Thaddeus Awuor and Mr. Japhat Kariuki respectively.
