BUSIA GOVERNOR SIGNS KSH8.1B APPROPRIATION BILL, 2022 INTO LAW
Busia Governor, H.E Sospeter Ojaamong has signed into law the Busia County Appropriation Bill, 2022 into law.
The Appropriations Act permits the County Government of Busia to access public funds for the Financial Year 2022/2023 which begin on July 1st, 2022 and appropriation of the money granted.
The total budget includes Ksh5.6 billion as recurrent expenditure and Ksh.2.5b in development expenditure.
The signing into law of the Appropriation bill comes three weeks after the County Assembly approved the Budget estimates for the Financial Year 2022/2023.
The approved budget estimate included Ksh.7.1 billion from equitable share of revenue from the National government, Ksh.47 million from conditional grants, and Ksh.409 million as locally raised revenue.
The Department of Infrastructure and Energy has been allocated large chunk, Ksh698.6m, towards development. This includes Ksh.557m for development and maintenance of roads, Ksh.18.7 energy development, Ksh.9.9m building infrastructure development, Ksh. 5.6m alternative infrastructure development and Ksh.107m other development projects.
The department of Health and Sanitation has allocated Ksh.413.8m towards development. This includes Ksh.235.9m for curative health services and Ksh150m for preventive and promotive services.
Of Ksh.233m allocated to the department of Water, Ksh.79.8m will go towards water supply services, 55m climate change fund, Ksh12m environmental management, Ksh11m small holder irrigation and drainage and Ksh.5m for forest development and management.
The Governorship has been allocated Ksh. 117m with Ksh. 82m going towards Disaster Risk Management, Ksh.13.3m information dissemination and knowledge management, Ksh.9.6m ICT Support Services and Ksh.12.4m other development projects.
The amount allocated for Disaster Management includes Ksh.68m for the purchase of a third fire engine that will be stationed in the South in Funyula or Bunyala.
