Through the Catherine Omanyo Foundation, Busia Women Representative visited Katelenyang village, Amukura Central Ward, Teso South constituency where residents are affected with jiggers.

She provided treatment and support to the affected, especially school-going kids and the elderly who are more vulnerable and easily affected by jiggers.

“Jiggers are a serious health problem that can cause pain, disability and even death. They are parasitic sand fleas that burrow into the skin and lay eggs, causing inflammation and infection. They can be prevented by maintaining good hygiene and sanitation and applying topical medication,” she said.

“I urge you to join us in our mission to eradicate jiggers and to be our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers. You can volunteer with us or spread awareness. Thank you,” she added.
