Busted! Hay Wasn’t the Only Crop Growing in This Van: Police Nab Narcotics Traffickers with Massive Marijuana Haul
Narcotics traffickers in Nakuru County learned a harsh lesson in underestimating the keen eyes of law enforcement. Their attempt to cloak a major marijuana shipment as a harmless load of animal feed crumbled after a tip-off led police to a suspicious Nissan van travelling through Subukia.
A routine inspection uncovered nine bales of marijuana cleverly hidden beneath sacks of hay.
Facing imminent arrest, the driver, 32-year-old Evans Oluoch Rogo, cracked under pressure and revealed the location of his accomplices.
Acting swiftly on this intel, detectives descended upon a Nakuru hotel where they apprehended Ali Abdikadir Ali (30) and Ortofa Dida (28) who were enjoying a carefree respite. Unaware that their illicit cargo had been apprehended, the duo was caught completely off guard.
A search of their car confirmed the officers’ suspicions, yielding an additional 36 bales of marijuana. With this discovery, the total weight of the seized narcotics ballooned to a staggering 138kg.
This significant seizure serves as a major victory for anti-narcotics officers in Nakuru County.
Their relentless pursuit of disrupting drug trafficking rings and their effectiveness in acting on tip-offs has paid off in a big way.
The case is currently handled by the Rift Valley Regional Headquarters in Nakuru, where the three arrested individuals face legal repercussions for their attempt to flood the streets with illegal substances.
The dismantled trafficking operation sends a strong message to those who seek to profit from peddling narcotics: Nakuru County is no easy target, and anti-narcotics enforcement remains vigilant in its fight to maintain public safety.
