A scheduled meeting of the Azimio la Umoja coalition leaders descended into chaos yesterday after the departure of ODM party leader Raila Odinga, as rowdy youths disrupted the proceedings, leading to the abrupt end of the session.

Shortly after Raila Odinga left the joint meeting, Wiper Party leader and co-principal of Azimio la Umoja, Kalonzo Musyoka, began addressing the attendees as directed by Odinga. In his statement, Musyoka expressed the coalition’s sympathy and condolences to those who had suffered injuries and property damage during recent demonstrations.

However, Musyoka’s address was cut short when a group of aggressive youths stormed the venue. The goons, who appeared to be intent on causing disorder, seized the moment to disrupt the meeting by overturning chairs and creating general mayhem. Their actions extended to targeting media personnel, who were threatened and subsequently fled for their safety.

The unexpected interruption forced the Azimio leaders to abandon the meeting. Following the incident, members of the coalition expressed strong condemnation of the disruptive behavior. They criticized the actions of the youths, denouncing the violence and chaos that marred what was meant to be a significant and peaceful discussion.

The incident has sparked a wave of criticism from various quarters, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the disruptive acts and the individuals behind them. The Azimio la Umoja coalition has vowed to continue addressing the issues at hand through alternative means and remains committed to their cause despite the setbacks encountered during the meeting.

The situation underscores the increasing tensions surrounding the current political climate and highlights the challenges faced by opposition leaders in their efforts to navigate through a period of heightened unrest and division.
