Hundreds of Chelelmetio village, Tembelio Ward residents on Monday demonstrated calling for a road that has been closed for 20 years to be opened.

They say there are four individuals from high and Mighty families who have been purported to have grabbed the land.

Justus Korir representing the youths said despite their grandparents giving out the land for a road reserve the said individuals have refused to give out the land.

“It’s sad that despite our grandparents giving out their pieces of land for road construction some of us are living as if we are in a landlocked Country. I am a farmer and it’s hard for even a tractor to reach my farm. For how long will we live as refugees,” said the youth representative.

“As youths, we want to work but we cannot do it effectively because after planting maize we have no roads to transport it even someone hiring our land is hard,” he added.

The case is still active in court and they are also waiting for the Court ruling.
“It’s sad that there is dishonesty in the Judiciary since the case has been postponed for over three years now. They have promised to come for a site visit but up to now, they haven’t. As residents we want justice,” he said.

Mike Kibet accused the said four families of using the police to frustrate them.

“It’s sad that the powerful families are using the police to frustrate their move to get justice. What we want is the road should be opened with immediate effect failure to which we will take laws into our hands,” Kibet said.

They called on President Ruto to intervene for justice to prevail.

“We are calling on our hustler president William Ruto to intervene. Sadly, the said families have also denied us electricity due to lack of road reserve where the transformer can be erected,” David Kiptek said.

Justina Kiptoo “I have lost my mother and husband who died because there was no road to take them to the hospital we tried all means but died while we were asking neighbors to help us pass on their road as we connected to the High-way

Musa Tanui says “Despite the map showing that there is a road reserve, its sad that we walk for over six Kilometers to connect to the main road instead of 2kilomerest. We are calling on Governor Bii, area MP Bartoo to intervene for us to get our road.
