CIPK Boss Applaud President Ruto’s Stand on LGBTQ
North Rift Chair Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) Sheikh Abubakar Bini has applauded president William Ruto after he broke his silence over the ongoing LGBTQ debate.
Speaking to the press Bini said the move is welcomed.
“As Muslim leaders from TBT North Rift we applaud president William Ruto for breaking his silence on this matter, we support him fully since we will not allow it to happen in this Country,” said the Northrift CIPK Boss.
President William Ruto while commenting on the LGBTQ matter said he will not allow the country to head in that direction as Kenya had values that need to be respected.
Bini further said that their demonstration for the removal of the Supreme Court Judges who supported LGBTQ will go on as scheduled.
“Our weekly demonstrations will continue as planned untill these three judges Justices Philomena Mwilu (Deputy Chief Justice), Smokin Wanjala and Njoki Ndung’u resign from office with immediate effect, since whatvthte did is against that law and traditions,” said Bini while speaking to the press.
Zulfukar Osman called on the registrar of political parties not to register the group.
“We are calling on three registrar of political parties Anne Nderitu not to register the LGBTQ group, this will be great injustice to Kenyans,” he said.
In its ruling on February 21, the Apex court dismissed an appeal by the government to bar registration of gays and lesbians lobby groups, ending an 11-year legal battle by activists seeking the official registration of an LGBTQ+ organisation in Kenya.
The court said the NGOs Coordination Board’s refusal to register the lobby group would violate human rights based on sexual orientation.
