In a bid to bolster safety and foster a vibrant 24-hour economy, Uasin Gishu County took a significant step forward with the commissioning of a 30-meter high mast at Jasho farm in Ngeria Ward.

The initiative, spearheaded by Governor Jonathan Bii, aims to illuminate key areas including shopping centers, markets, and informal settlements throughout the county.

The commissioning ceremony, held this evening, was attended by Governor Bii alongside Hon. Julius Sang, Leader of the Majority, and Hon. Richard Kering of Ngeria Ward. The event underscored the county’s commitment to enhancing community safety and promoting economic activity by ensuring well-lit environments.

Addressing the gathered audience, Governor Bii highlighted the importance of the high mast installations in creating a secure and vibrant atmosphere for residents. “These high masts represent more than just lighting infrastructure. They symbolize our dedication to transforming our county into a place where businesses thrive and residents feel safe,” remarked Governor Bii.

Hon. Julius Sang expressed his optimism about the impact of the initiative on local businesses and safety, stating, “With adequate lighting in our markets and shopping centers, we expect increased economic activity even during nighttime hours, while also enhancing security for everyone.”

The commissioning of the high mast at Jasho farm marks the first of 60 installations planned across strategic locations within Uasin Gishu County. Each mast is strategically positioned to maximize visibility and safety, catering to the needs of both urban centers and rural communities.

Residents of Ngeria Ward welcomed the development, noting its potential to transform their local environment positively. “This is a game-changer for us. Now, we can conduct business late into the night without fearing for our safety,” said one local resident.

As the county continues to roll out its comprehensive plan for a 24-hour economy, the installation of high mast lighting stands as a cornerstone of its strategy. The initiative not only aims to illuminate physical spaces but also to illuminate the path towards a brighter, safer future for all residents of Uasin Gishu County.
