Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakango has commended the progress, quality and impact of development projects in Uasin Gishu County. She made these remarks during her fact-finding mission.

“I have not seen any other county that has allocated offices for the administration as well as MCA in one building so that citizens access all services from one place. This is devolution”, she said while inspecting Kiplombe Ward Offices.

At the proposed Ziwa Level- 5 hospital she noted the fast progress of construction and the collaboration with Soy Constituency Development Fund in establishing a Kenya Medical Training Centre next to the hospital. The college will be used for training staff and students.

Governor Mandago’s vision of establishing Kimumu/Bahati Wholesale market with cold-room facilities stood out as a key agricultural value chain infrastructure. Apart from reducing post-harvest losses, it will provide a spacious trading hub away from Eldoret central business district and closer to the farmers.

On revenue, the Office of the Controller of Budget (OCoB) commended The County Government of Uasin Gishu for surpassing its own-source revenue of Kshs. 991 million in the financial year 2019/2020 to Kshs. 1.11billion in the financial year 2020/2021.

Nyakang’o noted that Uasin Gishu is among the best few counties that have done so well in terms of revenue collection adding that it has the potential and capacity of doing even much better in the subsequent financial years.
