County Government of Busia Procuress New Tractors
The County Government of Busia has procured five new tractors that will go along way to assist the farmers in the planting season.
Speaking at his office, Mr. Timothy Odende Chief Officer of Smart Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Agribusiness and Blue Economy affirmed the efforts of the county government to ensure that Busia becomes a food basket and tractors have come in handy.
“We could be using them to subsidize mechanization services from an average of 3500 to 5000 per acre. We expect to put more acres of land under production,” he said.
The Department of Agriculture is working with ward based revenue officers.The officers will circulate the contracts to the farmers so that the farmers can apply, pay then the tractors can come and plough.
He urged farmers to hire the tractors which is at affordable cost Ksh 2500 per acre.
