COUNTY IMPROVES THE ROAD NETWORK PROJECTS TO SPUR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN THE REGION

The County Government of Uasin Gishu has had a tremendous achievement in improving the road connectivity network projects in Uasin Gishu County.

The road projects which the government has placed in its development agenda as a priority has played a major role in uplifting the social and economic status of the residents of Uasin Gishu who venture into business and agricultural activities.

Today, the testimonials from the residents of Kimumu ward, Moiben Sub County have been replicated across the entire six Sub-counties, a move that has alleviated the decade long problem of road network challenge that was the order of the day in the past.

The residents have praised the county under the able leadership of Governor Jackson K. Arap Mandago for fulfilling most of his pre-election promises key among them, the road network projects.

They argued that the quality of the road network projects in their respective areas have not only enabled them to have a conducive environment for doing business but also improved security, and besides, resolved the perennial challenge of flooding waters that destroyed roads during heavy rainfall in the past.

While on an inspection tour for several completed roads projects in Kimumu ward, the engineers, surveyors and inspectors from the Department of Roads, Transport, Energy and Public Works took some time to listen to the views of the residents who expressed a lot of appreciation and gratitude for the work that has been done by the county.

Director roads Engineer Benjamin Kirongo who led an inspection tour in the ward assured the residents that more similar work projects will be extended to other remaining roads in the area as he urged contractors across all Sub Counties to continue working hard and delivering on time to satisfy the expectations of the residents and that of the team from the county.

Bahati village elder Pastor Raphael Thiong’o in his testimonial remembered how they had suffered greatly for a long period before devolution came in place.

“Our area had poor drainage and flooding water systems, impassable roads and also cases of insecurity were common because of lack of proper road network in this area. Today, I can say things have changed for the better and we hope the county government will continue working for us in other remaining sectors, “said Pastor Thiong’o.

Another area resident, Jane Waithera, said pupils had to travel long distances to reach learning institutions and parents were always worried that children could fall into the running waters when it rained heavily.

The roads that have been gravelled and were inspected include; Mwitiriria-Bahati,Matemo estate-BGC slaughterhouse – SDA-Junction roads.

Others present during the inspection tour were Urban Engineer Rachel Wangoi, Procurement Officer Benedicto Kanda and Surveyor Isaac Serem.
