The Trans Nzoia administration has launched a comprehensive inspection of all county roads, aiming to verify the quality of work done by contractors.

The move comes as part of an effort to ensure that payments are made only for well-executed road projects.

Director of the GDU, Samuel Ereng, led the inspection team across various parts of the county. Governor George Natembeya has expressed a strong desire to improve road networks throughout the region.

The primary objective of this exercise is to uphold high standards in road construction. Ereng emphasized the importance of proper graveling and grading to ensure roads are accessible and durable.
In Machewa Ward, the following roads underwent inspection:
Arap Letting Junction – Mwita Market – Chemichemi Centre Road
Chebukaka Coffee Farm Road

Chemonges Junction – Bondeni Dispensary Road
Meanwhile, in Matisi Ward, the inspection focused on the Kipsongo Junction – Shanty Centre Road.

However, the inspection encountered challenges. Some contractors opted not to appear on-site, sending agents who lacked knowledge about the ongoing work.

Engineer Rachel Wangoi, who led the technical team, highlighted the need for proper backfilling of culverts. Clerk of Works, Mr. Chrispinus Wakoli, stressed that graveling and grading must meet the required standards for roads to be truly accessible.
