The County Government of Uasin Gishu on Thursday evening hosted Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary Hon Ababu Namwamba to discuss policy on labour migration.
Leading the county delegation was Education, Culture Social Services, Youth Affairs and Sports County Executive Mr Joseph Kurgat and his Devolution, Public Administration and Public Service Management counterpart Barnabas Tarus.
Speaking during the meeting, The CAS reiterated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working towards introducing legislation to protect workers.
He further said that they will continue to work closely with countries that secure jobs to improve the protection of our workers who are at risk of abuse.
CECM Kurgat asked the National Government to put in place policies and actions including legislative measures which seek to enhance the capacity and opportunities for the youth to sustain their livelihoods and welfare while working in other countries.
Among present were, Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Steven Kihara, and other top Immigration Officials and Social Protection from the Ministry.
