The County Government of Uasin Gishu in partnership with Grace Family led by a group of doctors from Virginia, USA, on Saturday held a free medical camp at Cheptigit Dispensary in Ainabkoi Sub-County to provide much-needed healthcare services to the residents of Kaptagat.

Speaking during the launch of the camp, Governor Jonathan Bii expressed his commitment to improving healthcare accessibility in the region by announcing plans to complete the construction of a maternity ward and upgrade the Cheptigit Dispensary to better serve the community.

He recognized the importance of such events in providing essential healthcare services to those who may not have regular access to medical facilities.

“I want to challenge the residents of Kaptagat Ward to always take advantage of such programs and visit the facilities for triage services and soon we will sign the memorandum of understanding with the Grace Family to ensure quality health care services and diagnostics are enhanced in our county,” says Bii.

The County Boss also rallied the residents to join the Cooperative societies so that they can benefit from the County Enterprise fund and have bargaining power during the sale of their produce.

Health Services Executive Dr Sam Kotut challenged the residents to take advantage of these services and ensure the safety of their well-being noting that the medical camp provided a wide range of services, including general check-ups.

On his part, Ainabkoi/Olare Ward Member of County Assembly Hon Gilbert Chepkonga noted that the doctors from Virginia were highly skilled and experienced, providing top-notch medical care to all those who attended the camp by working tirelessly throughout the day ensuring that each patient received the necessary attention and treatment.

The free medical camp not only provided immediate healthcare services but also created awareness about the importance of regular check-ups and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The doctors and medical staff also took the time to educate the residents about preventive measures and the importance of seeking medical help when needed.

Chief Officers Dr. Joyce Sang (Promotive and Preventive Health) and Dr. Paul Wangwe (Clinical Services) noted that the event was a collaborative effort between the County Government and the Cheramei family, highlighting the significance of community involvement in improving healthcare services.

The residents of Uasin Gishu County were appreciative of the initiative and expressed their gratitude for the free medical camp and Governor Bii’s efforts to improve healthcare accessibility in Uasin Gishu County.
