County Partners with EPRA for Energy and Petroleum Compliance Training
In a bid to enhance energy and petroleum compliance, the county recently collaborated with the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) for a comprehensive training session held at Homecraft. The session was chaired by Mr. Ambrose Tarus, Chief Officer of Administration and Devolved Units.
Mr. Tarus commended EPRA for organizing the initiative, which brought together officers from the departments of Inspectorate, Licensing, Trade, and Fire. He emphasized the necessity of keeping abreast with advancements in the dynamic energy sector, underscoring the importance of preparing officers to meet future challenges.
“We must stay informed about developments in green and renewable energy,” Tarus stated, highlighting the training’s relevance in today’s context.
The training focused on various aspects of the energy and petroleum sectors, including effective compliance enforcement strategies for inspectorate officers. Tarus noted that these sessions provide valuable insights into regulatory expectations, ultimately enhancing the officers’ capacity to serve the public effectively.
“From this meeting, we gain a clearer understanding of the regulator’s needs and expectations,” he remarked.
This initiative is particularly timely, as it equips officers to communicate essential information to the public regarding safety compliance and petroleum management. Tarus stressed the critical nature of consumer protection, especially in preventing incidents such as fires linked to petroleum misuse.
Ann Kiprotich, Deputy Director of Public Education and Advocacy at EPRA, and Dickson Karani, Regional Manager for Northrift, echoed the importance of the training. “Engagement in these sessions is vital. The knowledge we acquire will empower us to apply what we’ve learned and effectively share it with the public to ensure compliance,” Kiprotich noted.
Also in attendance were Director Inspectorate Cosmas Kerich and Deputy Director Aurious Menjo, both of whom underscored the significance of this collaborative effort in fostering a safer and more compliant energy sector.
