CS Kindiki Move Directing Kerio Valley Residents to Vacate uncalled For Embobut Embolot Ward MCA
Embobut Embolot Ward MCA Paul Ng’etich, now says he is against CS Kithure Kindiki’s move of directing residents in the 27 bandit-prone areas to relocate.
Ng’etich who doubles up as Elgeiyo Marakwet county Deputy Speaker said the measure put up by the cs will not be effective.
CS interior Kithure Kindiki on Sunday ordered residents living in areas prone to banditry to vacate to pave way for flashing out bandits from their hideouts.
Residents who will not vacate from the said areas will be treated as suspects of aiding banditry.
Kindiki further banned low-altitude flights in the area apart from aircraft taking part in the ongoing security operation.
He affirmed that security forces will not retreat until a remedy is provided.
The Embobut Embolot Ward MCA, however, said relocating residents won’t be a solution for finding the bandits as they might relocate with them.
” Kindiki’s move is good but there are challenges too. Remember the bandits are human beings, whom we live together in the community, I am afraid that they might relocate with the residents, thus my suggestion is that the government should come up with better measures to tackle insecurity,” said Ng’etich.
He further said that the best solution is to sit and discuss, find out who the bandits are, and arrest them with immediate effect.
” The government through the ministry of the interior should take this issue as a serious crime and not like any other crimes. Bandits caught should be arrested and face life imprisonment,” Said the deputy speaker.
