Day 1 of SHA Registration and Sensitization Drive at Patrice Primary School
The much-anticipated registration and sensitization drive for the State Health Insurance (SHA) scheme officially kicked off today at Patrice Primary School, Nzoia Ward. The event aimed to enroll as many Likuyani residents as possible, empowering them to access affordable healthcare and significantly reduce out-of-pocket medical costs.
Speaking during the event, Likuyani Member of Parliament, Hon. Innocent Mugabe, urged all residents to take advantage of the ongoing registration process, emphasizing the importance of the SHA scheme in improving the quality of healthcare services within the constituency.
“I encourage all Likuyani residents to participate in this initiative, as it will open doors to better health services, minimize the financial burden of healthcare, and ensure that everyone, regardless of their financial standing, has access to essential medical care,” said Hon. Mugabe.
The event also featured a free medical camp in partnership with Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), which offered health services to the community. The MTRH team, led by Dr. Edwin Rono, provided a range of medical consultations and treatments, benefiting many residents who had limited access to healthcare.
Dr. Rono, representing MTRH, expressed gratitude for the collaboration, noting that it was a step in the right direction towards improving healthcare access in Likuyani. “It’s our pleasure to be part of this initiative. We hope to continue offering our support to the people of Likuyani in every possible way,” Dr. Rono remarked.
North Rift Regional Manager for SHA, Mr. Valentine Morogo, also attended the event, providing further insight into the benefits of the SHA program and how residents can enroll. He reassured the community that the registration process would continue over the next few weeks, making it easier for everyone to get involved.
While the day was filled with significant health-related activities, it also marked the beginning of the Chuma Moto Likuyani Super Cup, a football tournament that unites the community. Hon. Mugabe emphasized that the initiative was not just about football; it was about building a healthier, stronger community through collaborative efforts in both health and sports.
“As we celebrate sports and talent through the Chuma Moto Likuyani Super Cup, let us remember that a healthy community is a thriving community. The health insurance scheme and this sports event are two important components of our long-term development strategy,” added Hon. Mugabe.
The registration drive will continue in various locations across Likuyani, and Hon. Mugabe urged everyone to participate and ensure they are part of this transformative health initiative.
