Royal Danish Embassy delegation paid a visit to the Kenya Naval Training College (KNTC) at the Kenya Navy (KN) Headquarters, Mtongwe on 7 September 2022.

The visit was aimed at holding discussions on opportunities for Maritime cooperation between the Kingdom of Denmark and the Republic of Kenya following the existing Agreement between the two countries, dubbed the ‘Maritime Cooperation Programme’ (MCP).

The MCP entails support for the development of Kenya’s Maritime Domain Awareness concept under a Danish Peace and Stabilization Programme for the Horn of Africa.

In a meeting with the delegation, Brigadier Yahya Abdi the Commander Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe expressed his gratitude to the Kingdom of Denmark for the support they have offered to the KN in capacity building.

He stated that the support has been very instrumental in boosting the training of the KN personnel at the KNTC resulting to enhanced KN readiness in tackling maritime threats.

Later, the delegation visited the Full Mission Bridge Simulator (FMBS) and Fire Fighting Unit at KNTC and the Clearance Diving Unit at the KN headquarters.

Kenya and the Kingdom of Denmark have a long history of maritime security cooperation aimed at harnessing the blue economy and safeguarding a free, open and prosperous Indian Ocean region.
