Deputy President Kindiki Praises President Ruto’s Efforts for National Unity During Jamhuri Day Celebrations
In a significant moment at the 61st Jamhuri Day celebrations held at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki commended President William Ruto for his ongoing efforts to promote national unity. Addressing the nation for the first time since his appointment, Kindiki acknowledged Ruto’s inclusive approach to governance, which has focused on uniting both government and opposition leaders for the greater good of the country.
Kindiki, who was sworn in as Deputy President after the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua, applauded Ruto’s initiatives to form a broad-based government and extend an olive branch to former opposition leaders, including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Thank you for bringing everyone to the table so that we can all pull in the same direction to ensure that our country moves to the next level. We applaud you for the formation of a broad-based government and for reaching out to the former Prime Minister and former President Uhuru Kenyatta. We thank you, Mr. President,” Kindiki said during his address.
The Deputy President emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and inclusivity in shaping the country’s future. He noted that the vision of the founding fathers, which led to Kenya’s independence, must be preserved by ensuring unity among all Kenyans, regardless of their political affiliations.
“We are standing here today because of the sacrifices of people who are not necessarily here today. We must ensure that we sustain this country and fight for its unity, so that we can pass it on to future generations as a united nation,” Kindiki stated.
The Deputy President urged Kenyans to continue working together to strengthen the nation, stressing that unity is crucial for overcoming challenges and achieving sustainable growth. He also challenged all Kenyans, from all walks of life, to contribute towards building a strong and united country.
This year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations saw a renewed sense of national cohesion as leaders from different political backgrounds came together, marking a shift toward more inclusive governance under President Ruto’s leadership.
