In a heated prelude to an impeachment motion set to be tabled today, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has publicly criticized Rift Valley lawmakers for their lack of respect towards him. Speaking in a roundtable interview with local media, Gachagua revealed he has received derogatory messages from some MPs, stating, “There are messages from Rift Valley members of parliament calling me a fool. I’m an elected deputy president, and an MP is insulting me after drinking.”

Gachagua emphasized the gravity of the situation, noting that he has informed President William Ruto about these incidents of humiliation. His comments come at a time when tensions between him and some Rift Valley lawmakers appear to be escalating.

The Deputy President underscored his significant role in the political landscape, reminding the MPs of his contributions to their election campaigns. “Remember, I was there, I campaigned for you. I helped the president within my powers, talked to my people, and we ensured his success,” Gachagua asserted, urging lawmakers to show him the respect he believes he deserves.

As the impeachment motion looms, Gachagua’s call for unity and respect raises questions about the future dynamics within the Rift Valley political bloc.
