Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua Responds to Impeachment Vote with Bible Verses
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reacted to the recent vote by Members of Parliament (MPs) to impeach him, which saw 282 MPs in favor and 44 against. In a post on his social media, Gachagua quoted Bible verses, expressing his faith amidst the political turmoil.
He cited 1 Thessalonians 5:18, stating, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” He followed this with a verse from Jeremiah 30:19, which reads, “From them will come songs of thanksgiving and the sound of rejoicing. I will add to their numbers and they will not be decreased. I will bring them honor and they will not be disdained.”
In his message, Gachagua concluded with the phrase “it is well,” signaling his readiness to face the upcoming Senate hearings where he will defend himself against the impeachment charges.
The vote marks a significant moment in Kenya’s political landscape, as Gachagua prepares to navigate the challenges ahead. His spiritual references reflect a commitment to resilience during this tumultuous period. The Senate will soon convene to deliberate on the matter, determining Gachagua’s political future.
